I need transportation to make it to medical appointments for me and my mother who I help care for. She is 80 years old. I am a disabled veteran in the process of trying to enroll in real estate school to receive Texas sales license, with my goal being to be gainfully employed again and end my cycle of poverty, become tax paying citizen, and work in any way I can if it does not involve walking or bending because I'm diabetic, suffer from neuropothy in legs, respiratory problems, high blood pressure and lower back pain which is a result of job injury back in June 2006. I have a valid drivers license and can buy insurance. I'm also having to move by the end of January and need immediate assistance to do this. I can furnish medical records from social security admin, also letter and medical records from VA medical center in Houston, Texas. Can furnish copy of lease, electric bill in my name and identification upon request which I can include DD214.
I am a 57 year old disabled veteran living on fixed income (SSI) and even though I'm elgible for VA loan guarantee to purchase home, I don't qualify to use this option to purchase a home because of income and credit. I currently pay $475 monthly rent for a 1 bedroom condo in which the lease is up 01/31/2010 and I will be notifying the landlord in writing that I won't be renewing the lease because of living conditions health and safety hazzards at the unit and because the landlord has failed to replace the diswasher that was taken out shortly after I moved in because it didn't work at all. Also we only have two working elements on the electric range in the unit which has not been replaced yet. I help take care of my mother who is 81 years old and besides rent and utilities and food, I also have to pay a monthly storage fee for furniture and items I can't store in the one bedroom unit which basically leaves me needing help to make it from month to month. I've been on the housing choice voucher list now since 2005 and probably still not close to being screened for assistance, but I will definitely have to move at the end of January 31,2010 and would prefer to move in a house or duplex where I can store all of our possessions to eliminate the storage fee altogether. I need help affording a safe and decent place to live and would appreciate any help or referrals I can get to help me move and find safe, decent and affordable house.
